Gabe Freeman will be back in a San Miguel Beermen uniform.
The two-time PBA Best Import has signed a deal with the ASEAN Basketball League squad, which finished second to the Indonesia Warriors last season.
Freeman won the top import plum in the PBA twice while playing for the San Miguel franchise, which has been renamed the Petron Blaze Boosters. Filipino fans last saw him in the Commissioner’s Cup playing for Barako Bull.
He is no stranger to the ABL, having played for the Philippine Patriots in the league.
Agent Sheryl Reyes confirmed to InterAKTV that Freeman and former Westports Malaysia Dragons slotman Brian Williams will reinforce the Beermen in the next ABL season. Reyes also negotiated for deals for Asi Taulava and Eric Menk to play for the Beermen.
Williams, a 6-foot-10 slotman, who averaged 20.8 points and 14.4 rebounds per game for the Dragons coached by Filipino Ariel Vanguardia.
“Nahirapan kasi before ang San Miguel sa kanya, so we recommended Brian,” said Reyes.
Last season, San Miguel finished the tournament bannering two former PBA imports, Duke Crews and Nick Fazekas.
