The 80s Batch of PBA Imports Empty The 80s Batch of PBA Imports

Post by Guest Fri Sep 03, 2010 2:32 pm

Remember the days of High-Scoring PBA Imports, I’ve kept some of their Personal Stats/Total Points, averages to share and for future references, The 1980s Era produced so many great american reinforcements playing in the PBA, I’ll start my post from 1987 Third Conference thru 1989, wish I had more particularly during the early decade.

    1987 PBA Reinforced

San Miguel 123-113 win over Ginebra, Oct.4
    Bobby Parks – 39 points
Billy Ray Bates – 44 points

Ginebra 132-123 win over Shell, Oct.25
Billy Ray Bates – 69 points
    Dexter Shouse – 55 points

Ginebra 125-101 win over Hills Bros, Oct.27
Billy Ray Bates – 61 points
    Jose Slaughter – 44 points

San Miguel 110-104 win over Hills Bros, Nov.17
    Bobby Parks – 39 points
    Jose Slaughter – 37 points

    Billy Ray Bates
    62 pts – Ginebra 145-127 win over Tanduay, Nov.3
    71 pts – Ginebra 118-106 win over Shell, Nov.8
66 pts – Ginebra 153-133 win over Great Taste, Nov.17

    Bobby Parks
44 pts – San Miguel 91-86 win over Hills Bros, Oct.29

    Freeman Williams
82 pts – Tanduay 129-122 win over Hills Bros, Oct.6
    45 pts – Tanduay 119-115 win over Shell, Oct.29

On October 18, 1987, Hills Bros. import Jose Slaughter hit a record 14 triples, in the Coffee Kings 129-115 win over Great Taste, it is said he scored 79 points, I recall following that game on TV on a slightly-delayed basis and fully aware of his record-breaking performance, based on my stats archive, he was averaging 55 points in the first five games, so indeed Slaughter must have scored 79, just can’t believe how I missed that out.

Right, after a forgetable stint with Purefoods, Travis came back after four years and become San Miguel's resident import from 1992-1995.

Travis came in as a replacement import sa Purefoods and led the team to its only victory that conference, a one-point overtime win over Alaska, too late na kasi ang pag pasok niya, Kenny played only 3-4 games sa Hotdogs.
