Following a stinging setback, San Miguel tries to get back to its winning ways when it goes up against the Indonesia Warriors Saturday in ASEAN Basketball League action in Jakarta.
The Beermen were shocked by the Saigon Heat, 66-63, last week to drop to a 10-4 win-loss record. Even though they remained in second place despite the defeat, the team is taking the loss seriously.
In fact, the Beermen made a change this week taking in Duke Crews, a former import of the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, to replace Dalron Johnson, who was averaging a team-best 18.4 points a game. He will team up with Jarrid Famous in hopes to turn the Beermen’s fortunes around.
“Anybody can beat anybody in this league,” said San Miguel Beer coach Bobby Parks, who was visibly disappointed with the play of the Beermen against the Saigon Heat.
Crews averaged 27 points, 15.4 rebounds and 1.56 blocks in nine games for the Elasto Painters this conference.
The Warriors clinched a victory last week after their opponent, the Bangkok Cobras, walked out at the start of the fourth quarter due to officiating.
Sanctions were meted against the Cobras including Filipino Jai Reyes, who was fined for criticizing the league via Twitter after the incident.
